2010 Domaine Follin-Arbelet Clos du Chapitre Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru
What a lovely, lovely wine. This is what I’m talking about when I say I love Burgundy. Today’s wine is 100% Pinot Noir from a small village at the northern end of the Cote de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy. It is located on the plains below the Cote d’Or escarpment, just north of Beaune, in one of the most densely planted areas of the region.
It started out very tight, with tart red cherries and cranberries, but after a little decanting, opened to raspberry, sweet strawberry and earthy, almost herby brambles with a hint of tar underneath. The finish was silky and smooth though there was enough acidity to think this wine will still be gorgeous for several years to come. My husband pointed out it was his favorite wine that we’d had in weeks and I had to agree. I could drink this all day, every day, and never get tired of it. Yum!
